Liveföreläsning: Fotografering under extrema förhållanden

Den 26/1 höll Jonas Paurell en föreläsningen där han diskuterade fototekniker för landskap, djurfoto och porträtt samt att behandla historieberättande i dessa inriktningar av foto. Det är lätt att bli överväldigad av alla möjligheter till foto när man är ute och reser eller på expedition - så hur väljer man vad man ska fota?

Då många uttryckt önskemål om att Jonas föreläsningar ska hållas på engelska gjorde denna det för att så många som möjligt ska kunna ta del av informationen.

Den första föreläsningen handlade om Bevarandefoto för naturfotografer, den andra om The Jubilee Expedition, och nu går vi in tekniskt på fotograferingen under komplicerade och varierande förhållanden. Jonas har lång erfarenhet av att arbeta som fotograf på expeditioner både i extrem kyla i Arktis och i varma klimat med hög luftfuktighet som exempelvis Amazonas regnskog. Kyla, värme, luftfuktighet, snö, regn, damm, avsaknad av enkla laddningsmöjligheter och backup gör att planering och väl inarbetade arbetssätt är kritiskt viktiga för att kunna arbeta effektivt och smidigt.

Vilken kamera bör man ta med sig på olika typer av äventyr, och kanske ännu mer viktigt...vilken optik? Och vilka tillbehör är absolut nödvändiga? Jonas kommer att prata zoomobjektiv, fasta objektiv, filter, fotoväskor, vattentäta påsar, stativ, sensor- och optikrengöring, och laddning med både solceller och powerbanks.

On 26/1 at 7 pm, during the lecture, Jonas Paurell will discuss photo techniques for landscapes, animal photos and portraits, as well as treat storytelling in these areas of photography. It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the photo opportunities when you're out and about or on an expedition - so how do you choose what to photograph?

As many have expressed wishes for Jonas's lectures to be held in English, he will do so so that as many people as possible can take part in the information. The lecture will also be available to watch afterwards with Swedish subtitles.

The first lecture was about Conservation Photography for Nature Photographers, the second about The Jubilee Expedition, and now we get into the technical aspects of photography under complicated and varied conditions. Jonas has extensive experience of working as a photographer on expeditions both in extreme cold in the Arctic and in hot climates with high humidity such as the Amazon rainforest. Cold, heat, humidity, snow, rain, dust, lack of easy charging options and backup mean that planning and well-established working methods are critically important to be able to work efficiently and smoothly.

What camera should you bring on different types of adventures, and perhaps more importantly...what optics? And what accessories are absolutely necessary? Jonas will talk about zoom lenses, fixed lenses, filters, photo bags, waterproof bags, tripods, sensor and optics cleaning, and charging with both solar cells and power banks.
